Ron DeSantis has a likability problem he can’t figure out. Here’s a hint: many people are uncomfortable with DeSantis-style rewritten history, especially when it’s so blatantly self-serving and downright stupid. Insisting that some black people BENEFITTED from slavery on its face reeks of good old-fashioned American racism. The White Christian far right wants to return to segregation and institute White Nationalism. Their puppet DeSantis is unapologetically trying to mainstream a return to Jim Crow in America. Can right-thinking Americans like that?

DeSantis was a flash in the pan. His performance in Florida, as impressive as its’ been, was just that; a performance; he was auditioning for the role of President. He was no more MAGA Republican than the swamp rats GW Bush, Romney and McCain. His break with President Trump has made him a permanent back bencher. He’ll serve out his term as governor and that’ll probably be it for him. The fact that blacks have benefitted from slavery is impossible to deny. My ancestors, who included slave owners and Confederate soldiers, rescued them from the neolithic hell that was Africa and brought them to a real country, where they could make something of themselves, if they had the grit. Millions of them have. Millions more, though, have swallowed the democrat lie that they’re “victims” who are due some recompense for the “injustices” that they, themselves, not their ancestors, have suffered. There could be no better illustration of the absurdity of this idea than the fact that California, a state which never housed slaves is at the forefront of the movement. Welcome to Clown World. Racism still exists in America because grifters the like of Jesse Jackson and Louis Farakan are able to garner immense wealth and power by rabble rousing ignorant people of all colors to their “cause.” It’s time for this to end.
